The Alliance for Employee Growth and Development Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to enhance employment security for all Lucent and AT&T employees represented by the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. It was established through the collective bargaining process in 1986.  It has become one of the most successful joint labor/management initiatives in the United States and is included in the collective bargaining agreements between the CWA, IBEW, Lucent Technologies, and AT&T.

The Alliance offers career and personal development training and educational opportunities to more then 80,000 represented employees at Lucent and AT&T work locations nationwide.

So has it been a success?

Since 1986, over 100,000 active and displaced workers have participated in Alliance programs representing over 5 million training hours!
